King of the Castle!

Location: Salem Hills, Inver Grove Heights, MN
Time: 6pm
Bikes: Check
Lights: Yep
Beers: New Glarus Staghorn
Food: White Castle
MORBID Members: Mikey, Pete

Cold night, but it was perfect after a long stretch of rain and wet trails. We took advantage of the light that was still out when we rolled out to the trail. Mikey and I knocked out a nice warm-up lap that seemed to fly by. We took a short breather and headed out for another loop, we still had plenty of light left. We rocked that lap out and headed back up to the parking lot until it got a little darker.

The lights were flipped on and we set off again, lap #3. I hit it a little harder, or at least it felt harder on this lap. Finished the lap without killing ourselves and made it back to the lot. The beer felt extra cold tonight and tasted really good. I like the New Glarus Staghorn. Try some next time you hit Wisconsin.

The Hunger set in and knowing The Castle was close and tasty we decided to hit it up. 8 burgers, a box of fries, and a donation of a dollar to Jerry's Kids or something each later we were full, both with food and feeling good about getting to write our name on a paper pumpkin for the kids.

Next time you hit Salem, don't forget the Castle.

***UPDATE***
My farts today smell like White Castle...mmm....

Crankin' Beers

She was a good ride, a warm day after the recent cold streak. Two laps around, one with daylight, one without. Lights were charged and ready to go. Lap one was quick, the rocks were loose and there is a ton of sand on the trail, but it was fast as all hell.

Wheelie practice was held until the sun went down and lap 2 was started. Another fast lap was done since there were beers waiting. No injuries tonight but the boys were spent after some heavy riding the last few days...

Some Rouge Mocha Porter, Spotted Cow, Mothership Wit, and Paulaner Oktoberfest-Märzen were consumed. There was talk of The White Castle but that was called off since one of the crew had it for lunch. (Dick!) If only The Castle made wool jerseys...

Murphy Trail Work & Ride

Pete & Mike did some trail work at Murphy-Hanrehan today. A couple trail areas were fixed and a new trail was opened located on the west side of the park next to the log ride. The new trail is located at marker 80 & 81 on the trail map.

After the trail work a ride was in order as Kris & Aimee joined the group for a ride. Pete & Mike conquered the up hill rock garden on the advanced loop. Aimee was triumphant up the steep hill switchback and Kris, well Kris made it through the trail in one piece on his bike. However we did have to make a couple emergency stops for Kris to put in chain back on and to bike back to his car to grab his keys off of the car roof.

Alcoholic beverages after the ride consisted of New Glarus I.P.A., Hometown Blonde and New Belgium 1554 Brussels style black ale.
