Tour De Fat

I hope everyone got out to enjoy the Minneapolis Tour De Fat yesterday. Too bad the cold and cloudy weather had to move on in. The parade was a little short but there were some unique costumes and bike decor. The beer was excellent as always. Here is a LINK to some pictures I took. Next up the Salsa 2-4 at the end of August.

New Belgium Brewing, Freewheel, OOBS, REI, Peace Coffee, Chipotle, Penn Cycle, other sponsors, awesome. Totally awesome. Thanks for putting this on. There were at least 13 teams with MORBID members, and a bunch of volunteers. Thanks again for putting this on.

Ding Ding!

At the New Belgium Brewing Urban Assault packet pickup we got a bell. I already had a bell on my commuter but I found a good place to put this new one. What do you think?

I need another beer bell

See ya bright and early at 9am tomorrow and I am not talking about at church!

Trippel Belgium Style Ale

Not much biking going on since it has been raining non stop for the last week. Plus my bike is still at Hollywood Cycles getting some components fixed. BUT I can still enjoy a good brew while watching the MN Wild opener. That brew would be New Belgium's Trippel Belgian Style Ale. Like most Belgian style ales it has a high ABV at 7.8% which is on the mild side compared to some other Belgian brews I have tasted. Trippel is a flavorful full bodied ale that tastes like many Belgian beers but doesn't leave a nasty after taste on you buds.

GO WILD!

Crankin' Beers

She was a good ride, a warm day after the recent cold streak. Two laps around, one with daylight, one without. Lights were charged and ready to go. Lap one was quick, the rocks were loose and there is a ton of sand on the trail, but it was fast as all hell.

Wheelie practice was held until the sun went down and lap 2 was started. Another fast lap was done since there were beers waiting. No injuries tonight but the boys were spent after some heavy riding the last few days...

Some Rouge Mocha Porter, Spotted Cow, Mothership Wit, and Paulaner Oktoberfest-Märzen were consumed. There was talk of The White Castle but that was called off since one of the crew had it for lunch. (Dick!) If only The Castle made wool jerseys...

Murphy Trail Work & Ride

Pete & Mike did some trail work at Murphy-Hanrehan today. A couple trail areas were fixed and a new trail was opened located on the west side of the park next to the log ride. The new trail is located at marker 80 & 81 on the trail map.

After the trail work a ride was in order as Kris & Aimee joined the group for a ride. Pete & Mike conquered the up hill rock garden on the advanced loop. Aimee was triumphant up the steep hill switchback and Kris, well Kris made it through the trail in one piece on his bike. However we did have to make a couple emergency stops for Kris to put in chain back on and to bike back to his car to grab his keys off of the car roof.

Alcoholic beverages after the ride consisted of New Glarus I.P.A., Hometown Blonde and New Belgium 1554 Brussels style black ale.
