MORBID SpringFest

Every Spring I pray to the trail Gods and ask them to help dry our area trails. I know they hear me because they send me subtle messages about what type of sacrifice they need to be appeased and grant my wishes. As I was about to drift off to sleep a few nights ago something popped into my slightly intoxicated mind. They told me to dump quality booze down my throat, and to make it a group effort. That is where you, dear reader come in. So next Thursday, the 20th, get your ass to The Muddy Pig and help me try to make the angry trail Gods happy again. I hope to be there by 5pm so feel free to head on over whenever. Not a MORBID member? No worries, we don't hate, come have a beer with us.

Hope to see you there!

New Stumpy

Purchased a used 07' Stumpjumper Elite from a MORC member today. I have already moved some components from my King Bee over to the Stumpy. I can't wait for spring now.

Dirty Monkey

Surly KM MPLS

Almost 50 degrees out and puddles everywhere. It hasn't been this nice out since November. I needed to get out. My first thought was which bike is easiest to clean. The Karate Monkey was the bike for the job. One speed, which is slow, and not much to wipe down.

I headed over to Nokomis and rode up to the parkway. Took that over to the other two lakes and then up to the Greenway. Hoped off the Greenway and headed downtown to see how the work on the 35W bride was going. I proceeded to take the river road down to Minnehaha Falls and then took 50th back to Nokomis.

Not the longest trip but a nice way to spend a few hours on the bike. The puddles were fun but my chain hates me now. My ass was soaked and the HAWG I got for Christmas held my goods and kept them dry. Nice day for a ride.

More Rogue

Tried a couple more Rogue brews last night.

Juniper Pale Ale - I thought this was going to taste very hoppy like an IPA but I was pleasantly surprised buy the taste. It has a beautiful yellow/amber color and it tasted as good as it looked, beautiful. I would totally get this again. I liked this better than the Kells.

Half-E-Weizen - I know a lot of people don't like the wheaty taste of a hefeweizen but this beer would be a great for someone that has never had a hefeweizen. It doesn't really have a strong wheaty taste. I think Blue Moon has a stronger wheat taste than this Rogue. Like most wheat beers, this would taste better in the summer with an orange slice.

Rogue

The poor little MORBID site needed some beer updates. I'll get it started off with some ROGUE brews.

Kells - Petey will agree with me on this one. One of the best beers I have ever tasted. We had ourselves a bomber of this brew ice fishing a few weeks ago. It had a great smell, taste and after taste.

"Kells Irish Lager has won world-wide acclaim by winning 8 medals from the World Beer Championship and a Gold Medal at the Australian International Beer Awards."

Not surprising. Excellent beer.

Dead Guy Ale - Probably the most common of the Rogue brews. Grab a 6'er and try it for yourself.

Saint Rogue Red - Picked up a bomber to try while out on the ice. Little hoppier red but still very good. Couldn't get a look of the color since I drank it out of the bottle. I thought it was good but not as great as the Kells. This red had some potential.

Sea Otter Amber Ale - Oh how I love the amber ales. I really enjoyed this beer. I would have to rank it slightly below the Kells. It has a great smooth taste. I can't seem to find it on their site. They might have changed its name. Good stuff.

I usually just head over to the Apple Valley Liqueur store and I can find 10 different Rogue bombers on the shelf. You can also find quite a few at Blue Max but you will pay more at Blue. Couple more Rogue beers I would like to try is the Half-e-Weizen, Honey Cream Ale and the Monk Madness.

ROGUE

I am going to add a little to MikeyB's post.

I also really dig the ROGUE stuff. I have also tried a few others such as the Shakespeare Stout and found that also to be a fine beer but not one of my favorites. Also I really liked the Chocolate Stout.

Pick some up and give it a try, especially the Kells since it is the season. Good stuff.
