MORBID Turkey Day Ride

So MORC has an unofficial Turkey Day ride at Leb every year that was moved to Battle Creek at 9am. A few of us(Scott, MikeyB, and me(Pete) couldn't make that ride and needed to get home a bit earlier that than would allow. Enter, 730AM at the River Bottoms. Indian Mounds to the Old Ferry Bridge and back. We all were at Indian Mounds a bit before 730, got ready and started to ride. A little ways in we realized that we were all dumb and forgot cameras...and beer. So the following pictures are a recreation of what happened.

We rode down to the Ferry Bridge without much incident. We had to break the raft loose since it was frozen in. Scott had to take the tree in some borrowed road Lake shoes but made it across. He pulled like hell to bust the raft loose and we made it across in little time.

On the way back we pass about 80 other bikers including the LCR folks and saw some Grandstay kits also. Most said hi and good morning, thanks for being nice on the trails.

We get back to the raft and get pulled across. I unload first and am about 3/4 of the way up the stairs. Scott is coming right behind me when I hear splashing. This is what it would have looked like if you were to come upon us, but Scott was wearing more clothes though.

Scott Wading

What happened was Scott slipped because of the road cleats and went about up to his knees. We hurried back to the cars so we didn't have to amputate.

Those last few hills before Indian Mounds were killers and with those two on geared bikes in front of me, master says faster on the SS so I can climb hills.

Master Says Faster

Hope you still have toes Scott!

The End. Have a good Turkey Day y'all!

X-Mas Claws.

It is the time of year where everyone gets fatter and you buy people you know stuff, whether you like them or not. Also you send cards to people you haven't seen since your wedding(in my case that is only a few weeks) and then take them off the list if you don't get a card back. (assholes) Since I didn't get a thing from my x-mas list last year(see post here) I thought I would try again. Contact me for my shipping info if you want to get me something for all the quality I add to you life...or to send me hatemail.

The list:

The new part at Lebanon Hills hurts my weak girly wrists, so I want to try these out:

Ergon GC2

My bottom backet needs to be pimped on the Monkey and only Chris King has more cowbell:

Chris King Bottom Bracket - Green please!

More sheep parts please:

Swobo Dolly Knee warmers

And here comes the Rapha stuff, so nice, so fucking expensive:

Rapha Wool Fixed Base Layer

Rapha Tweed Softshell

Rapha Merino Shirt

Rapha Silk Scarf

Okay, pretty much anything from Rapha would make me happy.

Another jacket would be nice, Twin Six has one that looks nice:

THE DELUXE Jacket

The Twin Six wooly would be nice too:

T6 Wooly Gray

A hat would top this off also:

T6 Strip Cap

Swobo Cottonwood Jacket would keep me nice and warm between bars.

Something to read while I vacation in Belize:

Rouleur Photo Annual 2008

Some of these never hurt either:

New Belgium 2 Below

So I expect to see a few of these at my house next year. That Grinch isn't going to get me again.

In the News

SQUAMISH, B.C. - A private micro-brewery in British Columbia is toasting the current economic downturn by launching a special brand of recession-style beer.

Howe Sound Brewery says it is now making "Bailout Bitter," its most bitter-tasting brew named in honour of the government bailouts of the financial sector that have taken place globally, underscoring the severity of current economic crisis.

Calling it "bitter ale for bitter times," the brewery said the new beer will cost less than its other brands.

For instance, a pint of Bailout Bitter will sell for $5.50, or about $1 less per glass, at the company's restaurant and brew pub, located in Squamish, B.C., about an hour drive north of Vancouver.
