Winter Build Complete
We've already had about a week of snow here in lovely Bozeman, MT and I had thoughts of just how much I ruined the bike I'd ridden for the past two winters (long since painstakingly refurbished and sold by Scott H).
I'm hoping to build up my current ride into a short-distance touring bike so when the university bike auction took place which I was attending to procure bikes for the local bicycle co-op of which I am a volunteer I took some time out to find myself a good deal on a winter frame. I scored a beauty of a Rockhopper for a couple dollars and spent the afternoon yesterday reducing the bicycle to one fucking speed, adding full fenders and generally tuning it for use as my winter commuter.
The studded tires I've run the past two winters are shot and this current rig has 26x2.0 inch tires (larger than my current studs) so I'll probably attain a set of carbide studs. After that all that's left is to apply a MORBID Fuck Shifting sticker and she'll be ready for icy roadways.

Sweet, we both will be rocking Rock Hoppers this winter. I did the same thing to a 97 Rock Hopper last year. See ya on the trails!!
Sweet.
I have a '97 rock hopper that is my winter bike also. 17" black. Gotta love it.

The context of that shot looks familiar. Where have I seen a picture much like that?
